Beyond the Movie

Expedition

Narrator:
A curious modern parallel to Frodo's journey recently took pass in the vast African Congo

michael fayes

Michael Fayes:
It was a giant quest for me and a quest for "let's think about the ecosystem"
[Michael Fayes, ecologist of the Wild life conservation society]

Narrator: Gandalf enters the Shire
The same conviction infuses the Lord of the Rings, a story, that begun because Tolkien loved the land. It is also a message delivered by the queen of the Elves.
[Gandalf enters the Shire]

Cate Blanchett:
She's handing on the torch to human kind. She's challenging a view as to say: what are you gonna do with the earth. We had this paradise, so now you men, you human kind, have the responsibility of this earth. I think it's a very profound message.
[Cate Blanchett / Galadriel kisses Frodo]
Narrator:
Middle-earth is a mythological place but it rooted in reality, having it imagined by a man who witnessed the worst of human nature and understood humanity' greatest attention.
[The fellowships walks by the ruins of Eregion/ Stonehenge]
Narrator: Frodo and Sam leave the Shire
By volunteering to be the ring-bearer Frodo shows that an ordinary individual can help guide humanity thru tumultuous times. Tolkien's hero is an everyman we can admire and emulate, the type of hero so needed today.
[Frodo brings forth the Ring at Elrond's council/ Frodo and Sam are walking through the Shire]
Christopher Lee: The Fellowship leave Rivendell
There are groups of people who want, desperately want, a decent world, a good world, right now as we are speaking. I think I'm probably right of oncoming conflicts and sometimes wars that have ever been in history. So, what are we going to do about it? Where's the ring-bearer?
[Christopher Lee/ The fellowship comes over the mountain- the famous scene, Gandalf leading, then Legolas, Gimli looking down, the hobbits, pony Bill, Boromir, Aragorn] Dan Arden
